Chaque élément du processus artistique créatif devient fonctionnel et novateur. L’étude est également une lecture de certains tableaux de Cézanne, notamment la série “Mont Sainte-Victoire”. S’appuyant sur les principes artistiques du post-impressionnisme, je montre comment Hemingway utilise la visualité pour créer le ton et la tension dramatiques, sans recourir aux schémas narratifs traditionnels. Certes, la relation esthétique entre les deux artistes a été mentionnée à plusieurs reprises par les commentateurs, mais peu de critiques ont fait des analyses formelles rigoureuses de ces deux moments modernistes typiques, ou du processus créatif mis en place pour réaliser ce projet inter-disciplinaire. Before outlining where this discussion diverges from Zeki it should be emphasized that there is no dispute that what is generally referred to as the visual brain is V1 plus the specialized visual areas with which it connects directly and indirectly (Zeki, 1998). Paul Cézanne and his art are examined in this paper by adapting, rather than adopting, Semir Zeki’s idea that ‘artists are neurologists, studying the brain with techniques that are unique to them. This paper examines Paul Cézanne’s contributions from both the painterly and the cognitive science perspectives, asking what artists in fact contribute to our studies in these areas. The exceptionally-written essays and psychoanalytic analysis in these books give a clear picture of how the Maltese Art Scene has changed from the 20th century onwards, especially with the emergence of more dynamic artistic tendencies.

Louis Laganà, this volume particularly celebrates the achievements of seminal artists Aldo Micallef-Grimaud and his daughter Nadine Micallef-Grimaud as well as Antoine Camilleri and his son Antoine Paul Camilleri. Edited by senior lecturer, art critic and curator Profs. Volume 1 is the first of three publications in accompaniment APS Bank’s series of Art Exhibitions, each of which feature two generations of artists. This initiative, which consists of a yearly publication and respective exhibition, reflects the Bank’s raison d’être, that is to complement activities carried out by other entities and bring together a collective effort of ideas by forerunners in the cultural field. Two Generations of Maltese Artistic Families is a three-year project being undertaken by APS Bank throughout 2014-2016 recording and evaluating the contribution of six pairs of Maltese artists while eliciting inter-relationships between their milieus and their sensitivity in their respective artistic works.
